Happy Saturday!
Welcome to the weekend everyone; what a magical winter’s day it’s been at market, everyone rugged up in their woollies and the sun shining through the chilliness.
So it’s Amy here on letter writing as Jonathans away till Sunday.
It’s been another intensely busy week at The All Organic Farm head quarters, I like the challenge of steering the ship without Jonathan but I must say there have been a few extra long days this week!
What with the warehouse renovations and an ever growing number of new home delivery customers… It’s all very exciting!
We’ll keep you posted on the updates.
Fruit and Veg news
Let’s start with the apologies…Grapes are over for the season and we accidentally left them on the list last week, sorry to disappoint you all. Leafy greens are really running low, some of you missed out but we tried to sub with something similar where we could. Coleslaw mix was unavailable, as was dill, spring onions and bunches of parsley, these look to be unlikely for a little while. Quite a few dry goods were also missing but hopefully we will be re stocked soon.
Some great news. It looks as though we have a Tasmanian Organic egg producer on the Horizon. Helen is from the Central midlands and is currently in the Transition phase of Organic Certificating with Top (Tasmanian Organic Produces). She is a few months away from having full cortication status. Although she wont have full certification we will be offering her produce for sale as soon as it becomes available, as we are trying to create a policy of supporting growers into certification rather than only taking their produce once they have become fully certified. This really helps them get started and means we can bring more new growers online sooner. So keep your eyes peeled for updates.
How fabulous are the Pineapples? (Top end pineapples, Wamuran, QLD) And they’re only going to get better, sweeter and more and more flavorsome! On special at $6.95 kg.
Humphrie (Fat goose fruits, Renmark, South Australia) has sent us some of my favourite things… his Native Blood limes, many of you will remember them from previous years but for those who don’t they are about half the size of a Tahitian lime and a more oval shape with a dark ruby red skin and flesh that is difficult to describe… The flavor is sensational! They are amazing in chutneys, cakes, alcoholic (or non alcoholic) drinks, or just about anything.
More Navel oranges that seem to be getting better and better and also for all those who love marmalade the Seville’s are here, Yum Yum Yum!
From Chislett orchards we have the first of the season Blood oranges due to arrive on Tuesday
Labertouche organics (Jeff Brown, Labertouche, Vic) goodies are back on, Leeks might still be scarce for the next week or so but those incredible bunches of brightly colored Rainbow chard are back, along with big bunches of Boc and Pac Choy, and the Kale should be in plentiful supply.
Rob Conlan’s Boc Choy, although smaller than that coming from Labertouche is so fresh and crunchy and full of flavor, I’ve been eating it this week sautéed up with ginger, garlic and lime juice. They are a smaller price to at $2.95 per bunch.
Galangal and a fresh batch of Turmeric are due to arrive on Tuesday so I feel some warming curries and stir fries coming on.
Rhubarb is finished but the stewing of fruit continues with a great deal on juicing apples, mixed varieties available for $1.50 kg and 12kg boxes for $12 ea. Stewed up with pears, also on special at $6.95 kg, or an orange really hits the spot on a winters morning or evening.
Also available are some new Buerre bosc pears that are in perfect condition.
I’ve advertised some cheaper mushrooms below, we will still have our first grade buttons and Swiss browns but a couple of boxes came back from market and I’d like to clear them out at half price.

Other News and Tid bits
Another disappointing week for Dry goods in some ways. Some more orders showed up but so many items were out of stock it means there are a lot of N/A on this week's availability lists…All these goodies are on back order and will arrive as soon as they can!
