NEW Website: www.theallorganicfarm.com.au
Please remember to have all orders in by 12 midnight Tuesday for delivery on Thursday and please return any boxes for re-use
Hello Everyone, What a magic weekend
Thanks for all your positive feedback for this new website, especially the constructive criticism...this is exactly what we need to make the service as user friendly as possible. You may not see many changes in the next month as while Jonathan is away on holiday I'll just be collecting all your comments and on his retirn we'll nut out what the best things to do are...so pleads keep those comments coming.
We have elected to keep offering the excel list in a modified version with order form. We have seen the need to offer a no frills list for some of you with slower internet connections. We will upgrade this list to be more user friendly as time permits.
We have a couple of hints to help make ordering on the website easy!
- You do not have to add each item 1 by 1. You can for example choose the items you would like by putting the relevant numbers in each of the items order box as you scroll down the page. Once you have selected each item and have finished on the page simply press enter or “add to cart”. This will add all the items you have selected from that page all in one go, instead of 1 by 1, meaning less time spent ordering as you do not have to wait for the page to reload for each item.
- You can start an order and leave the website by shutting the page down or logging out. You can come back at anytime and the website will remember where you were up to. You can do this as many times as you like and the website will always remember where you were up to (even if your computer suddenly shuts down) You just have to make sure that you are logged in before you start ordering.
- You can make up an order with a friend or group by starting an order under a shared login name leaving it unfinished so that your friend or others in the group can login and add what they would like to the order then finalise the order when everybody has completed their part of the order. You just have to make sure that you are logged in before you start ordering.
We have also installed our new POS system in the warehouse which will help us to process orders more efficiently, track accounts and generally speed up a process that had previously taken us 15hrs to pack all the orders on Wednesdays. We did make a few mistakes this week with invoicing whilst adjusting to the new system and we are very sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any queries about you invoice at anytime please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Fruit and Veg news
It's been another busy week in Organic land, securing a supply of fresh produce is at it's most difficult at this time of year, I know things are a bit scarse but be assured we are doing all we can. I am leaving some things on the website that never seem to come...I know this is causing some dissapoitment when you recieve your order with a list of not availables but my theory is that it would be worse if a shipment of goodies arrrived and I was unable to pass them on to you because I hadn't advertised them and you hadn't ordered them!
The biggest hurdle we faced this week was bananas. My apologies for the appearance of the bananas, I did reduce the price by half so I hope this balanced it out somewhat. The problem lay not in an undersupply of bananas, infact The All Organic Farm has never had so many bananas in stock... The problems we ran into were all to do with ripening them, this is proving to be trickier at this coolest time of year, there are so many factors involved in ripening bananas... and this week they we're just to green to send out.
I have just checked the riprning room before beginning this newsletter and I am confidant that the colour and quality will be brilliant this week.We will also have a large amount of seconds bananas and Lady fingers available.
How's the zing in those Tangelloes... Can't you just feel the vitamin C in every part of your body?...they really are one of my favourite taste sensations, and they look so beautiful in a fruit bowl, which I know is not what food is all about but I get so much pleasure out of the beauty of our produce. Even after more than 4 years of setting up our Salamanca market stall at such an early hour every saturday I get such a buzz every time from handling all the amazing produce!
All the limes have finished for the season, but I find lemon juice is very nearly as good wth fresh Pawpaw! Which is going out on special this week, down from $12.95 to $9.95 kg, and the quality is superb. We also have more of that fabulous Watrermelon still on special for $3.95 kg.
We are still offering a large variety of apples that I'm still more than happy to reccomend, my favourites being the crisp sweet tang of a Pink lady or a fuji... as a child I had a whole orchard of apple varieties and still every time I would go for brilliant big green Granny smiths! The tang makes my face screw up but I love it!
Then we are left with a varied selection of citrus, the Tangelloes I've already mentioned but the next exciting edition will be Humphrie Howie's (Fat Goose fruits, Renmark, South Australia) Gorgeous Pink grapefruit, they are arriving late this week, I tried to get them here for you by wednesday but it meant Humphrie being up a ladder all weekend which I felt unfair in pushing him too hard to do!
Into the realm of vegetables here are my ideas for the week using all the goodies we have on hand, nice wintery warming goodness...
Hearty soups, creamy potato and leek is one of my favourites, red lentil carrot sweetpotato pumpkin and lemon, beetroot red cabbage miso roasted russian garlic and ginger, and a french onion with crusty bread...so simple but so satisfying.
A selection of your favourite vegetales in large chunks or small, roasted and seasoned as simply or as decadantly as you like... Onions garlic and Rosemary (from your nearest local park if not you or your neighbours garden...this stuff is everywhere!), cinnamon and maple syrup, salt pepper and lemon zest, cumin seeds and your favourite ground spices. The possibilities are endless.
Fiery curries and zingy stirfries using loads of onions garlic your favourite spices Terries fresh chillies chopped vegetables coconut cream and an abundance of crinchy asian greens. that'll hit the spot!
Eggs Eggs and more eggs... we are trialling a new producer of BIODYNAMIC eggs from Glenrose in NSW, his farm sounds fabulous and I am running a special so please give them a go...
Baked in a zingy citrus cake, grated carrot and apple muffins, Pancakes with fried banana your favourite nuts and maple syrup, Poached with mushrooms spinach or silverbeet and lemon juice, or just scrambled on Summer Kitchen bread.
Oh and with all this dairy around why not a good old fashioned Cauliflower or broccoli cheese or a bake full of layers of potatoes onions pepper and cream...Mmmmmmm!
