It’s been a tough couple of weeks for our local and mainland growers with Flooding in Nth Qld halting the banana supply and record heat for days on end destroying a lot of crops in NSW and Vic. Please spare a thought for our already drought ravaged farmers. Crops that have taken a battering are: Leafy greens, stone fruit, berries, and grapes…

Fruit and Veg news

Apologies for this week: Sorry for the lack of spuds, we had transport delays and they did not arrive in time! They are now in stock and ready for dispatch! No paw paw due to quality issues. Swiss brown mushrooms where not available. Yellow button squash have been lacking in quality thus we did not send them out. Purple sweet potato was also very poor. We ran short of corn and salad/lettuce products due the heat last week destroying a lot of crops. We also ran short of quality mangos.

We now have loads of fantastic big red tomatoes in stock. They have amazing flavour and smell like tomatoes should. Just like they used to be!

Banana crisis! We are super short of bananas! The ones we do have are of excellent quality it’s just that getting through the flood waters of Far North Queensland has been a little difficult.

We finally have some sultana grapes available and the flame seedless have come down in price!

We have a melon bonanza with some delicious honey dew now on the list to compliment the Rockies and the outstanding Seedless watermelon. We have decided to stop stocking the seeded watermelon due to quality issues.

We have some amazing new yellow peaches coming in. They are of fantastic quality and great eating!

Terry has delivered us a load of his famous red chillies.

The Team at Yorktown organics have delivered us a good array this week. We now have sweet banana capsicums and Lebanese eggplant in stock.

The Pineapple is simply outstanding! We also have a few Bethonga golds available. They are unbelievably sweet with a very low acid content.

We now have local French beans coming from Rob Conlan of Huonville. The quality is defiantly top notch and they are super fresh and crunchy.

Terry’s delicious Lebanese cucumbers have come down in price. They are so abundant and so yummy.

The new season potatoes have finally arrived! We will be starting of with Dutch Creams, King Edwards, Kennebecs and Kipfler.

We have an abundance of basil coming from Bruce and Clare Jackson of Yorktown organics. The Quality is outstanding and the price is down to $3.95 for 80g bag.

Yorktown organics have released their latest product. Micro Salads – a mixture of their sprouts range packaged up in 80g bags. They are such a delicious combination.

Other news

We now have Tomato puree and diced tinned tomatoes back in stock, though there is a small price rise to the fall of the Aussie dollar. Still good value though.

We will have no Tempeh in stock for a few weeks due to production issues.

We have all the pureharvest non dairy milks back in stock as well as the full range on Thomas Chipman potato and corn chips. To add to this all of the Pureharvest juices are also back in!

Bonsoy is out of stock until we receive our next shipment from spiral foods which should hopefully only be a week away!

We now have the full range of Sienna canned beans back in stock: Chick peas, Lentils, Cannellini beans, Red kidney beans and baked beans. To compliment the range we have also added 3 new bean varieties from the global organics range: Borlotti beans, Butter beans and black beans.

Be sure to check out the Tasmanian float leaf. This dried sea vegetable is harvested from the pristine waters of Tasmania’s west coast and makes a great addition to all Asian cooking.

The Greengrove licorice range is fully stocked: Spelt licorice 250g, Milk choc coated licorice 250g, Dark choc coated licorice 250g, Choc coated dried banana 250g, Choc coated Sultana 250g, Junee white gold (white choc coated licorice) 250g, As well as the old favorite Plain licorice 250g.

Brazil nuts are back in good supply.

Sunflower kernels are also back in. Finally!!
